Nashville Queer History, a project of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), is the recipient of a $25 thousand grant along with Nashville Sites that will help both organizations fund the documentation of “queer history” in the state of Tennessee.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation announced the decision on April 7th. Other partners that will be implementing the grant are: Vanderbilt University Libraries, the Just Us at Oasis Center, the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce, MTSU’s Center for Historic Preservation (a community partner of Nashville Queer History) and the Albert Gore Research Center.

MTSU faculty member Sarah Calise, the founder of Nashville Queer History (who uses the pronouns she/they and identifies as queer and bisexual) is an archivist with the Gore Center, and will play an integral part in helping to document the LGBTQ+ history of Nashville and the broader Middle Tennessee area.

Calise’s CV states that Nashville Queer History:

▪ Researches primary sources via online databases and in-person archival collections

▪ Conducts oral histories with members of Middle Tennessee’s LGBTQ+ community

▪ Supervises research assistants

▪ Manages social media and website content

▪ Writes grants to fund NQH research and public programming

“Being only one of two Tennessee projects chosen for the grant is a great honor, and it shows that documentation of queer history is much needed in our state,” Calise said, “I am excited to collaborate with Middle Tennessee archives, libraries and nonprofits to expand NQH’s resources and to build something for the greater good.”

According to a Nashville Sites statement, “The federal grant is one of 80 given to select organizations nationwide with projects that help preserve, interpret and activate historic places to tell the stories of underrepresented groups in our nation.”

Nashville Sites, a nonprofit organization, is funded by the Metropolitan Historical Commission Foundation. They create walking, driving and virtual tours of important historical venues in Metro Nashville by combining scholarly research with historic sites.

This is where our tax dollars are going. And don’t kid yourselves. They will just pay huge “salaries” or “fees” to people to do an internet search and write a “paper”. It’s another left-wing rob-the-taxpayer money laundering scheme. Typical of the left.

Love to have someone explain what a person’s sexual orientation or gender disphoria has to do with history. What does it have to do with a professional status, a career choice, social contribution, etal? Why is it even of any interest in personal relationships between consenting adults? I certainly hope no taxpayer funds were involved.

Might as well flush tax payer money down the drain. Someone needs to be held accountable for this total waste of money on garbage.

I am so tired of this shit being shoved down every one of us. The wasting of tax payer money on queer history. I don’t know anyone that wants to hear about queer history. I really don’t give a shit about queer history. A waste of money and time on this subject. Thanks
