Narcotics detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department arrested a man last week after he arrived by bus carrying a large amount of fentanyl.

Records show that 18-year-old Ivan Corrales was approached by detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division at the Greyhound station on Rep. John Lewis Way around 5:30 pm last Wednesday. Corrales was getting off of a bus that had come in from Dallas, Texas.

Corrales initially denied having any illegal narcotics when questioned by police. However, he gave them permission to search his bags. When they did so, officers found a “large bundle wrapped in duct tape.” The bundle contained approximately 10,000 blue M30 pills, assumed to be Oxycodone.

Field tests showed that the pills were positive for fentanyl. Corrales claimed that he did know that the bundle was in his bag, but he was not aware that they contained fentanyl.

He said he was given the bundle in El Paso, Texas, for transport.

Corrales was also carrying an ID that showed his residence as Alma, Arkansas.

Corrales was charged with felony possession of a fentanyl with intent to sell. He was booked into the Downtown Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.

Routine operations are conducted at the bus station by the Interdiction and Narcotics Units to curb drug trafficking into the city.
