The Tennessee Conservative [By Kelly M. Jackson] –

2024 is going to be a big year for elections. On top of the obvious national elections that so many are anxious to see come, in Middle Tennessee, there is also a mayoral race taking place.

Considering that the Mayor of Nashville doesn’t just preside over the city proper but is the Executive that manages the Greater Metro Nashville area, this is a big job that effects so many people.

When John Cooper ran for office of Mayor of Nashville, one of his campaign promises was “I’ll do the math and tell you the truth”. Many who viewed Cooper’s term with optimism, are now feeling as disappointed as they have been with Cooper’s predecessors.

Cooper campaigned as a moderate democrat and considering what the city had been through with David Briley and Megan Berry, people seemed ready for a candidate that was not as flamboyantly progressive and appeared to care about “kitchen table issues” that were on the minds of so many who live and work in Davidson County.

After 5 years, people are possibly thinking there needs to be an even more radical change in who runs Metro Nashville.

There is a candidate that feels she would bring a fresh perspective to governing, her name is Natisha Brooks, and she is running for Mayor of Nashville as a republican. Considering Nashville hasn’t had a republican running the city since 1860, many would say it’s about time.

What do we know about Natisha Brooks platform and what she would do to improve the city?

A recent report where many of the pertinent questions were asked about the issues voters care about most, sheds some light on that subject.

Outlined on her campaign website, Brooks emphasizes the importance of education, support for law enforcement, and initiatives needed to create a cleaner, more peaceful Metro Nashville.

Brooks, who identifies as a strong conservative, outlined some of her ideas in the report, and said in a recent interview that it is her experience as an educator that makes her amply qualified to run the city.

Some of her ideas for managing the issues with crime in Nashville include creating a “pipeline” from high school to the MNPD, readying young people coming out of high school to take much needed positions within our local law enforcement.

Other ideas include strategies to tackle the issues with Nashville’s homeless population, the seemingly constant skirmish between the republican controlled General Assembly and the overwhelmingly democrat Metro Nashville City Council,  and how to get Nashville back on track, instead of moving in the wrong direction, a sentiment indicated by a recent Vanderbilt poll of Davidson County residents.

Based on that poll, residents feel there needs to be a different kind of leadership in the mayor’s office, one that is a conservative.  Natisha Brooks feels that she is the right conservative for the job.

No Republican Nashville mayor since 1860? Gee, maybe it’s time to try one. The Leftists aren’t getting it done. I’m far from Nashville but would certainly like to donate to Natisha Brooks’ campaign.
