Overton High School head football coach Ron Lambert has been placed on administrative leave by Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) as the district investigates alleged “unprofessional conduct”.
Coach Ron Lambert reportedly had “verbal disagreements involving some parents and family members” at the school’s Aug. 28 game at Hillsboro. According to MNPS chief of communications Sean Braisted there were no physical altercations, but he did say the disagreement was not the “sole basis” for the leave.

Braisted also noted that the review process itself doesn’t equate to an admission of wrongdoing, but is rather “a routine standard operating practice for the district when there is a situation involving an employee that requires an investigation. It does not indicate corrective or disciplinary actions by MNPS.”
No further details are being provided by the district at this time as the review is ongoing.
Lambert did not coach the Sept. 4 game against Nolensville following the Hillsboro game where the incident occurred, and the Nolensville coach was supposedly told Lambert had the flu when he learned the day of the game that Lambert would not be there.
Joining the Overton coaching staff in 2024, Lambert spent the five seasons prior as an assistant coach at Davidson Academy. Before that, he had stints as the head coach of Rossview High School from 2010-16, Whites Creek High School in 2017, and RePublic High School in 2018.
Before entering the high school coaching sphere, Lambert played cornerback at Wake Forest High School then spent 15 years coaching at the collegiate level, including as the defensive coordinator for Easter Illinois from 2003-2005 and Tennessee State from 2006-2007.
