Nashville Judge Requires Court Appearance For Media Organization Over Release of Information From Covenant School Shooter’s Manifesto

The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

A Tennessee judge is requiring the parent organization over the Tennessee Star to appear in court to defend itself after the release of information from several pages alleged to be from the “manifesto” of the Covenant School shooter.

Nashville Chancellor I’Ashea Myles has ordered Star New Digital Media, along with editor-in-chief Michael Leahy, to appear in court on June 17. Myles says the organization must explain how their recent publication of “certain purported documents and information” are not a violation of court orders.

According to Myles, the documents were sealed with the judge in a public records case. She says she found out that the information had been released because she received a call from another media outlet asking her to comment on the leaked documents.

In February, the judge noted that parties had been told not to quote directly from or reproduce any leaked documents. The Tennessee Star argues that they did not violate court orders because they only released information but did not publish the documents or images themselves.

Deborah Fisher, executive director for the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government, says “this could raise First Amendment issues” as parties argue over the rights of media and the extent of control that a judge has in such cases.

The Tennessee Star is one of several petitioners in a public records case surrounding the documents, in which a request was made that the court order their release under the Tennessee Public Records Act.

The city of Nashville has maintained that they are under no obligation to release documents while an investigation is taking place, but petitioners argue that there is no criminal investigation because the shooter was killed by police.

A group of parents of Covenant School students have also stepped up, arguing against the release of the documents, claiming that writings from the shooter could potentially inspire copycat criminals and retraumatize their children.

Metro Police are trying to determine the source of the leak, given that this is the second instance in which pages have been released without “official” permission. Back in November, a conservative commentator posted several pages of the shooter’s journal to social media after receiving them without official authorization.

At that time, MNPD questioned ten officers and ended up reassigning all of them from the Threat Section of the Specialized Investigations Division. A former MNPD detective who also had access to the images was asked for an interview, but he would not cooperate with that investigation.

According to MNPD, the Tennessee Star reportedly has 80 pages from the journals. Police are conducting an additional investigation to attempt to determine the source of the newest leak.

There is clearly a conspiracy between divisions of the Liberal local government and the dirty Federal government is almost certainly involved behind the scenes. They all despise our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Freedoms.

100%, they are trying to take every constitutional right you have away. Only they can’t and you can’t give them away either.

It is disgusting a certain group of people has more power than parents have to help protect their children. Nashville is working on dragging a great state down into a liberal cesspool that 90 percent of us do not want.

So a judge want to interrogate the Press for legally publishing what should have been a public document in the first place. The paper will try to protect it’s sources and the judge will get high and mighty, threaten everything short of the hangman’s noose for what? Just so he can flex his muscles and cover the backsides of the lying politicos that tried to cover it all up. Hooray for the Kommunist Kingdom

Like I have said from the start…..it is all about protecting doctors and Vanderbilt Hospital. Big money has silenced freedom of the press. This sick trans stuff is an easy source of big dollars.
I am so ashamed of Tennessee politics. Nashville is no different than DC politics.

It’s infuriating & frightening what’s happening all over our country & even in red states with regard to the leftist owned & operated media & judicial system lying to the public to further their Marxist agenda while suppressing the truth & targeting any person or organization that attempts to expose the lies & corruption. America IS a banana republic. Lord help us if Biden is re-elected…America as we’ve known it will be finished if it’s not already.
