A Nashville man who has been on the run for several days after allegedly beating his girlfriend with a hammer has been arrested in Nashville.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Ross Peterson attacked the woman he had been dating, Bailey Perger, in her South Nashville home on Saturday, October 17.
Police had helped Perger earlier that morning after Peterson, who had been sending her threatening messages, showed up on her doorstep. She was able to obtain an order of protection against him at 6:15 a.m.

Law enforcement officials returned to Perger’s residence at 7:15 a.m. to find her lying in the backyard. She was seriously injured and had to have facial reconstruction surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Perger’s family believes law enforcement officials should have done more to protect her, but police say there was not enough time between obtaining the order of protection and the attack for them to serve the papers to Peterson.

This was not Peterson’s first dealings with police. He is currently on probation for a felony conviction of methamphetamine possession in Williamson County.
Peterson was on the run until Wednesday, October 21, when he was taken into custody in Arkansas. He will now be returned to Nashville to face a number of charges, including aggravated assault.
