An email was sent to the Tennessee Conservative News writer of our article from a friend of the Nashville restaurant owner, Matt Carney, who was killed by an illegal alien in a hit and run in the parking lot of his popular Music City restaurant.
We asked if we could print his email and he agreed. The full letter follows:
Kelly,
Thank you for your reporting on what happened to our friend Matt. He damn sure didn’t deserve what happened to him and I pray it doesn’t happen to any other American although I know it will with the policies set in place by this current administration.
It saddens me to no end that people keep voting to allow these tragic events to continue happening.
I personally believe judge Todd should also be held accountable for what his decisions have caused in regard to what Martinez has done to the Carney family. Sadly I believe Davidson County is a lost cause.
I really don’t even have words to describe what I feel about this situation except full blown anger.
Matt had a big heart and he never was above anyone. I learned after he passed that he paid his entire staff all throughout Covid. That he drove some of the neighborhood kids around at Christmas time to see the lights. That he worked from sunup to sundown to realize his dream of his restaurant. That he truly adored his wife.
This should have never happened. Matt deserved better and so do America’s citizens.
I’ve made an American Flag that I hope can be hung at Smokin Thighs in his honor. Matt was the America I believe in. Full of life, lending a hand to anyone who needed it and never asking for a handout just working hard for the opportunity. He lived life for sure. He lived it his way.
I am grateful there are people like you who dig deep and try to tell the whole story accurately. It was an honor to know Matt and we will do whatever we can to help Molly however she needs help. Thanks for your time and may God’s almighty blessings be upon you.

Elections for judgeships are probably the least understood and get the least attention. We have both appointed and elected Judges. Those that are appointed can be voted to be retained or not. It’s time to understand NOW which is which. Citizens need to know these are very important positions where holding criminals accountable has to be the highest standard of justice. Judges need to be followed while they are in office and held accountable for the decisions they are making that results in a lower standard of accountability. There are many who are taking the low road and allowing charges to be dismissed. What happens? Repeat offenders – they will never learn!
