The Gorham Homestead recently hosted a raw milk summit in Bon Aqua where about 200 small farmers, dairies, homesteaders, health experts, and consumers gathered to learn about the health benefits of raw milk, safety protocols for the industry, some of Tennessee’s current regulations on the cattle industry, including the production and sale of raw milk, and legislative work being done to encourage food freedom and combat overregulation.

Several state lawmakers were in attendance including Rep. Michele Reneau (Signal Mountain-District 27), who has been a vocal and staunch supporter of food freedom, Rep. Jody Barrett (Dickson-District 69), Rep. Monty Fritts (Kingston-District 32), who is also running for governor, and Rep. Lee Reeves (Franklin-District 65).

Reneau wrote of the day, “It was a great day of connection and shared purpose. Farmers, homesteaders, legislators, and consumers came together to speak with one heart for food freedom- and to strengthen Tennessee’s growing movement for clean food, pure water, and natural living.

The fight for food freedom is really a fight for personal liberty, community health, and local prosperity. A heartfelt thank you to all of the organizers and speakers who shared their knowledge and experience, and to everyone who made the trip to be part of this important conversation. Your commitment to freedom and engagement is what will keep Tennessee strong and healthy… Together, we are Making Tennessee Healthy Again!”

Dr. Ken Berry, a Tennessean, well-known physician, and author of several books including “Lies My Doctor Told Me”, spoke as a health and nutrition expert and advocate for food freedom, sporting a MTHA (Make Tennessee Healthy Again) ballcap alongside other participants.

Other speakers included Elizabeth Murphy from the Weston A. Price Foundation, Shawn Day of Tennesseans for Raw Milk, and Suzanne Morgan of Echo Valley Farm.

The Patriot Punk Network’s Daniel Wagner created a highlight video of the event so those who could not attend the event can hear pertinent points and information from the speakers.

Reportedly, future summits are being planned for East and West Tennessee.
