The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –

Representative Clay Doggett (R-Pulaski-District 70), lead sponsor of House Bill 0030, presented an amendment to his bill on Wednesday afternoon that passed the House Cities and Counties subcommittee

Doggett’s amendment to the bill does three things: it defines what adult cabaret entertainment is, creates a licensure requirement to be considered an adult cabaret performer, and puts an age requirement of 18 or older to attend adult cabaret performances.

Representative Sam McKenzie (D-Knoxville-District 15) queried whether language in the bill that includes the phrase “or similar entertainers” would affect those in wrestling entertainment.

Doggett said that if wrestlers were violating the section of Tennessee Code that his bill refers to, there would have been lawsuits already filed and prosecutions made and there have been none.

The amended bill passed on a voice vote with Representative McKenzie requesting to be recorded as voting NO.
