The Tennessee Conservative [By Jason Vaughn] –

State Representatives Justin Jones (D-Nashville-District 52) and Justin Pearson (D-Memphis-District 86) brought in $1.8 million between the two of them during the week that they were expelled for their role in a protest on the Tennessee House floor.

Legislators are typically not allowed to fund raise when the legislature is in session; however, the representatives’ removal made them able to do so. Lawmakers had to file mid-year campaign finance reports by midnight on Monday.

Pearson and Jones were expelled from the legislature after being voted out. Representative Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville-District 13) also faced expulsion, but the vote came up one short. The expelled representatives were only absent for a week before their local government officials reappointed them temporarily and then both won the special elections held for their respective seats.

In the first half of the year, Jones raised $1,079,688.86 while Pearson raised $1,058,036.34. Pearson’s total includes $52,000 that he raised in January to fund the campaign for his special election.

When the expulsion of the two gained national attention, it opened up additional fundraising opportunities for the pair. They raised a total of $1,762,991.10 from individuals outside of the state.

Seeking campaign contributions from outside of the state appears to be a common tactic with Tennessee Democrats. A Tennessee Conservative reader, located in Texas, has informed us that he regularly receives calls from the campaign of Senator Heidi Campbell (D-Nashville-District 20) for campaign contributions. Campbell is currently in the running to be Nashville’s next mayor.

Both Jones and Pearson will face reelection in the general election on August 3rd.

Expulsion efforts and sanctions by House Republicans against Gloria Johnson led to quick fundraising success for her and the Knox County Democratic Party as well.

Just goes to show you how stupid people can be. Go to a school board meeting and mouth off like those clowns and see what happens. Go to a City Council meeting or a County Commission meeting and mouth off like that. I can assure you, no one is going to hand you a million bucks. Up to me, I’d expel the three of them every time they showed back up. Protest is one thing, being an A-hole is completely different.

These 2 are Socialists Democrats, the new name for the communist party in the USA. Take note. And our pathetic supermajority could not censor them appropriately nor challenge the reelection with due cause. Pathetic.
