Sevierville City Administrator Dustin Smith was arrested Sunday on charges of domestic violence.

According to Sevierville mayor Robbie Fox, Smith was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. The arrest was made after Smith’s girlfriend brought allegations against him.

Smith was booked on a $2500 bond, which he later posted, and was then released.

Smith has been suspended with pay, pending further investigation.

Smith denies any wrongdoing, releasing the following statement:

“I deny the allegations that I assaulted anyone. I will address this matter through the legal process and defend my honor and integrity. I respect the Board’s decision regarding my suspension and will comply with it. I look forward to a fair and timely resolution of this matter. Out of respect for the court process and everyone involved, I will not comment further on the facts while the case is pending.”

Doug Tarwater has been appointed as interim city administrator. Smith is scheduled to be back in court on October 21.
