The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –

Students in Rhea County, Tennessee, who are trying to launch a Turning Point USA club have found themselves stymied as school officials overhaul guidelines for student-led organizations.

Interest in Turning Point USA has skyrocketed following the untimely death of the conservative organization’s founder Charlie Kirk but students in Rhea County may have to wait until next year before getting their chapter up and running.

The school district in Rhea County has decided to review policies regarding student clubs as required by the state after Director Amie Lonas took office in July and found that no approval process for student-led clubs existed. Student activity procedures were last revised approximately twenty-five years ago.

Lonas said the district is “very supportive” of students participating in school clubs and organizations but one of the students leading the charge to launch a Club America chapter says that the group’s leaders have been told they have to go through the school board after having followed existing rules for setting up a club.

Lonas says that there has been a miscommunication between school leadership and students as the board votes on policies and does not have the jurisdiction to approve individual clubs.

Club America, launched in July, is the high school affiliate of Turning Point USA. Kirk’s organization, founded in 2012 and now headed by his widow Erica, supplies clubs with materials of an educational and promotional nature supporting conservative views.

More than a dozen Turning Point USA chapters currently operate in Chattanooga area schools and institutions of higher learning.

  1. Start screening teachers and administrators for political and demonic ideologies. If Schools “change policies” to keep conservative education and interaction from the students remove the school’s funding. We pay their salaries and it is time they start listening to the people they work for. We need to remind them who is the boss.
