The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced that a recent rescue mission in Knoxville resulted in the location of 11 missing children.

The TBI partnered with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Knoxville Police Department, and the Department of Children’s Services to initiate “Operation Rocky Top Rescue.”

Detectives and intelligence analysts compiled information on a number of children who were missing or not accounted for in the Knoxville area.

16 of those children were located before the operation began, and another 11 were found by five teams during the two-day operation on April 10 and 11.

The 11 children, who ranged in age from 14 to 17 years old, had been previously reported as missing, delinquent, or runaway.

The agencies plan to continue to coordinate in the future with hopes of locating children who were not found during this effort.
