Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
The House State and Local Government Committee passed legislation last week amending the state’s current pronoun law to protect individuals from being forced to use preferred honorifics along with preferred names and pronouns.

House Bill 1666 (HB1666), sponsored by State Representative Aron Maberry (R-Clarksville-D68), aims to protect the rights of individuals to refuse to call a biological male “Miss,” “Ma’am” or “Mrs.” or a biological female “Mr.” or “Sir.”
The bill passed with 13 ayes and 6 noes, with 3 present not voting.
Three Republicans opted not to vote on the legislation: State Representatives Rush Bricken (R-Tullahoma-D47), Rick Eldridge (R-Morristown-D10), and Greg Martin (R-Hamilton County-D26).
