Davidson County police arrested another illegal alien on felony charges of firearm theft last Tuesday.

24-year-old Omar Alexis Lopez was arrested on December 10 for theft of a firearm valued at less than $2500. He was booked into the Correctional Development Center with a $1500 bond.

Inmate records show that Lopez has an immigrant detainer hold. He will be kept in custody until he is turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

An immigrant detainer means Lopez is most likely in this country illegally.

This is not the first run-in with the law for Lopez.

Records also show that he was August 22 of this year for criminal trespassing and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. The misdemeanor charge of using drug paraphernalia can carry a sentence of up to 11 months, 29 days in jail, probation, and a maximum fine of $2500.

Lopez appeared in court on these charges on September 12, where the case was closed as a “nolle prosequi”, meaning the prosecution chose not to pursue the charges. In Tennessee, this can only be granted by the Attorney General and the court.
