An illegal alien is facing charges in Knoxville related to a traffic stop earlier this month that led to a police chase and a shootout with Tennessee Highway Patrol officers.
According to reports from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a black Toyota 4Runner was stopped in Lenoir City for speeding on I-75 in Loudon County. When asked for his license, the driver informed the officer that he did not have it.
Instead, he handed over a Guatemalan Consular ID card, showing him to be Eugenio Abraham Solis Klarks.
While the officer attempted to issue a citation for speeding, Solis Klarks drove away, leading the officer on a chase into Knox County. He then lost control of the vehicle, crashing on Watt Road.
Officers attempted to approach the vehicle, but Solis Klarks then aimed an assault rifle at the trooper. Initial reports indicate that he fired first. The trooper then fired at Solis Klarks, who continued to return fire.
Solis Klarks sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being hit. THP then discovered several firearms in his vehicle.
Solis Klarks was arrested by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
According to inmate records from Knox County, Solis Klarks is being held on an immigrant detainer. He will remain in custody until he is turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An ICE detainer most likely means that he is in this country illegally.
