Tennessee Illegal Alien Teenager Apprehended After High-Speed Car & Foot Chase

After leading Nashville police on a car and foot chase last week, an 18-year-old illegal alien was arrested and booked on several charges, including a felony, after several firearms, drugs, and other burglary paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers attempted to pull over an Infinity G37 that was suspected in a series of burglaries and thefts, but the vehicle “fled at a high rate of speed” until authorities successfully spiked the car’s tires. The vehicle allegedly continued to travel for six more miles on disintegrating tires before finally spinning out and crashing while attempting to exit I-24 at Harding Place.

Gelsen Verela Dubon, the 18-year-old passenger of the vehicle, and the car’s driver, reported to be a teenage minor, then attempted to escape on foot, but were quickly apprehended by officers. 

After searching the vehicle, officers recovered three handguns, one of which had been reported stolen and another modified with a switch to make it fully automatic, and a rifle. They also discovered marijuana and a key fob programmer which can be used to commit burglaries. 

Verela Dubon is being held in the Downtown Detention Center on a $29,000 bond.

His charges are:

• Misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor
• Misdemeanor alteration of ID numbers
• Misdemeanor possession of burglary tools
• Misdemeanor possession of fob equipment with the intent to commit theft
• Misdemeanor evading arrest
• Felony possession of a prohibited weapon

ICE has confirmed Verela Dubon is from Honduras and jail records indicate he is ineligible for bail as he has an ICE detainer hold, meaning he is most likely in the county illegally.
