Williamson County Republican Party Passes Resolution Denouncing Disloyalty Of Local GOP-Elected Officials

The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

On September 3rd, the Williamson County GOP unanimously passed a resolution denouncing the actions of three Republican school board members, by name, along with Republican Cheryl Brown.

Cheryl Brown is the interim appointed District 10 County Commissioner, Immediate Past Chair of the WCRP and elected officer of the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women.

The resolution calls out the named individuals for being disloyal to the party by publicly supporting non-Republican candidates. 

Excerpts from the resolution:

“Whereas, the Williamson County Republican Party believes that when an elected official runs as a Republican, raises money as a Republican, and is elected as a Republican, that these officials have entered into a covenant with the Republican Party and its members. The Williamson County Republican Party expects these elected Republican officials to hold themselves to the same standard to which Party officials are held – thus to refrain from actively working against the Party and its candidates is the minimum duty of an elected Republican. Therefore, any endorsement of non-Republicans constitutes a breach of trust with the Party and its members.”

“Be it resolved that the Williamson County Republican Party will encourage and support bona fide voters who seek to challenge the bona fide status of any candidate who has, by their endorsement, actively worked against the Republican Party and its candidates. We will support and encourage such challenges to remove their bona fide status should they attempt to run for office as a Republican or should they attempt to engage in any intra-party activity where bona fide status is required.”

“Be it resolved that the Williamson County Republican Party denounces the actions of Mr.
Galbreath, Ms. Cleveland, Mr. Welch and Mrs. Brown.”
