Within hours of taking office, President Donald Trump made good on campaign promises and pardoned around 1500 individuals who had been convicted of offenses related to events occurring at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, including a number of Tennesseans.

According to a proclamation released by the White House, those individuals were granted a “full, complete, and unconditional pardon.”

Additionally, 14 others had their sentences commuted to time served and 450 pending court cases were dismissed.

The list of those pardoned includes the following Tennesseans:

  • Matthew Baggott of Woodbury
  • Matthew Bledsoe of Memphis
  • James Wayne Brooks of Johnson City
  • Christopher Michael Cunningham of Old Hickory
  • Andrew Galloway of Nashville
  • Jack Griffith of Nashville
  • Albuquerque Cosper Head of Johnson City
  • Bryan Ivey of Cookeville
  • Clifford Meteer of Knoxville
  • Eric Gavelek Munchel of Nashville
  • Joseph “Jose” Lino Padilla of Cleveland
  • Stewart Parks of Columbia
  • Ronnie Presley of Nashville
  • Blake Reed of Nashville
  • Michael Roche of Murfreesboro
  • Michael Timbrook of Cookeville
  • Eric Torrens of Gallatin

While some have criticized the President’s actions, the proclamation states that it “ends a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.”

In an interview with News Channel 11, Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger expressed support for Trump’s decision.

“Look, there is nothing wrong with what President Trump did. These people were incarcerated, and they shouldn’t have been,” she said
