Two minors are in police custody after allegedly carjacking a woman at knifepoint in Nashville last Wednesday morning.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), three boys aged 12, 15, and 16, escaped from Natchez Trace Academy in Waverly, Tennessee on Tuesday night.

The boys walked approximately six miles to the Speedway gas station in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, where they stole an SUV.

“The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside,” the MNPD stated.

On Wednesday morning around 9:20am, the three boys allegedly held a woman at knifepoint in a parking garage on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville before taking the woman’s Lexus sedan.

Reportedly, only one of the boys drove away in the car. The other two ran off on foot.

The victim’s car was found significantly damaged that same day, at a Family Dollar on Jefferson Street.

Police arrested the 12-year-old on Wednesday night at the Greyhound bus station on 5th Avenue South.

Central Precinct Officer Ralph Gualt recognized him from the suspect description.

This may sound harsh but until we start holding people accountable for their actions things like this will continue to escalate! If the car owner had been carrying it could have ended peacefully without loss of life or property.

I thought Nashville’s license plate readers were supposed to stop car thefts and car jacking. I guess they didn’t work. The 12-year old criminal masterminds have them beat.
