A second non-speaking child has allegedly been assaulted by a preschool employee in a Tipton County School.
Following an investigation begun in April, Austin Peay Elementary preschool assistant Christina Burk who is 43-years-old was arrested on charges of assault.

The investigation was opened by Tipton County detectives after a complaint was filed with Austin Peay’s School Resource Officer by school officials and those that witnessed the attack on the child.
According to Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley, detectives consulted with the district attorney’s office regarding the outcome of the investigation and for formal charges.
Burk made a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court today, Thursday, June 18th, 2026.
According to the Teacher Accountability System’s (TAS) website, Burk has been terminated from her position at the school.
The TAS website is a comprehensive public database that tracks educators who have been accused of assault, including sexual assault, and misconduct.

Austin Peay Elementary preschool teacher Katherine Elise Turnbow, 23-years-old, was also charged with assaulting a non-verbal student in May.

Turnbow’s teaching license has since been suspended.
