In less than two weeks, the Memphis Safe Task Force has made 562 arrests and seized 144 illegal firearms according to a Thursday morning update from U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

Bondi has been sharing updates on social media platform X about the task force’s efforts involving a slew of federal agencies:

  • The Department of the Treasury
  • The Department of War
  • The Department of Justice (DOJ)
  • The Department of Health and Human Services
  • The Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • The Department of Transportation
  • The Department of Homeland Security
  • The United States Marshals Service
  • The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
  • The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)
  • The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
  • The Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)
  • The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee

The task force began its work in Memphis on Monday, September 29th, per an executive order from President Donald J. Trump.

National Guard troops are scheduled to begin patrolling the community on Friday, October 10th.

According to the City of Memphis, the National Guard will be “serving as extra ‘eyes and ears’ in our neighborhoods, assisting local, state, and federal agencies.”

The Guard will play a supporting role and act as a “force multiplier” for the Memphis Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.

“Guardsmen and women will be easily identifiable in their standard uniforms that they wear every day,” the city wrote on the Safe and Clean Memphis webpage

Guardsmen and women will not be making arrests or issuing warrants. They will also not be wearing any masks and no armored tanks will be used for the Memphis Safe Task Force operation.

Recent data released by the DOJ on Monday, October 6th showed that the Memphis Safe Task Force had made a total of 321 arrests since starting the operation.

These arrests included:

  • 99 individuals arrested via warrant pickups
  • 82 individuals arrested on ICE warrants
  • 41 individuals arrested on gun charges
  • 26 individuals arrested on narcotics charges
  • 18 individuals arrested for sex offenses
  • 1 individual arrested for homicide

The remaining 52 arrests were categorized as “other.”

Unlike the emergency takeover that was issued in Washington D.C., the Memphis Safe Task Force has been called a “sustained campaign” as it will occur in phases over the coming weeks and months.

  1. The National Guard will NOT be going into high crime neighborhoods. They will NOT be intervening in gang warfare. BUT …

From the Associated Press: “At least nine National Guard troops began their patrol at the Bass Pro Shops located at the Pyramid, an iconic landmark in Memphis. They were being escorted by a Memphis police officer and posed for photos with visitors who were standing outside.”

You have to wonder who the National Guard is protecting Bass Pro Shops from. This is just another laughable political stunt.
