According to new data, almost 19,000 unaccompanied alien children have crossed the United States border and ended up in Tennessee since 2015.

The data states that most of the children coming to the state have been placed with family members like a parent or sibling, with a vast majority arriving since the coronavirus pandemic.

The placement of unaccompanied alien children made headlines in Tennessee three years ago when news reports emerged of the abuse of some of the children placed in a Chattanooga facility.

There were also news reports of a late-night flight to Chattanooga transporting children to Tennessee around the same time, prompting many state Republican leaders to express concern over the lack of transparency from the federal government about the children’s presence.

The unaccompanied children have ended in many of the states counties but slightly less than half have ended up in the two Middle Tennessee counties home to Nashville (6,926 children), and Murfreesboro (1,112).

This data comes from the New York Times. The newspaper obtained from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services after filing a lawsuit and was released to the public at the end of the year, covering documented unaccompanied minors crossing the border between Jan. 1, 2015, and May 28, 2023.

The Times used this information to publish a series of stories revealing how many of the children who crossed the border without their parents ended up working in brutal jobs, such as food processing plants making Cheetos and Lucky Charms, often in violation of child labor laws. In Tennessee, The Times discovered a 12-year-old migrant child working as a roofer.

The paper’s articles were honored with the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting in May.

The placing of migrant children

Since 2021, nearly 400,000 children have crossed the U.S. border without their parents, with most fleeing countries suffering from economic turmoil.

A vast majority of these children are from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. This trend is also reflected in Tennessee, where 96% of the unaccompanied alien children have come from those three countries.

  1. They are here illegally and must be deported along with the 50 million already in this country. The truth is these children are sent here and the parents are allowed to come later. It’s just another government scam to allow the invasion to continue.

    1. THIS when our school are overcrowded now, and you can bet most of them do not speak English, and we will end up paying more taxes.

  2. Deport with a capital D! I came to Tennessee from Texas….I know where this leads and how it ends. Send them ALL back. They are not Tennessee’s responsibility.

    1. Joe Biden needs to be prosecuted for Treason. There are many missing children most of them show no record of location.
We have enough concerns return to their country. Return them.

      1. SO VERY TRUE BIDEN has joined the UN and the WHO so they can send these ILLEGALS to our country. YOU can also blame DR. WITH OUT BORDERS.THEY are sending people from the jails and all the poor they can round up. OUR country will end up a 3rd world country, and out kids and GRANS kids will pay for this.

  3. And we wonder why DHS is so backed up. This is just tragic for these children. I know they are illegals and should be sent back to wherever they came from. It just is crazy to think adults would send their children alone with all of the violence that is part of this escapade.
Governor Lee is to blame for this disaster along with his other rinos who follow him around like a dog in heat. He has allowed this.
God be with us and these poor little children.

  4. I just posted the Texas DPS list of its10 most-wanted illegals, all presumably from Mexico, at my local post office. As soon as I can get my hands on the information I will start posting photographs of the illegal children who reside unlawfully here in Tennessee. In the meantime I will keep my guns well oiled and my powder dry should these people trespass on my property.

  5. Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

Blame all the Politicians you want, but

“YOU” live in a country where “YOU”, The “CITIZEN” are suppose to be the “MASTER OF BOTH CONGRESS AND THE COURTS”,

BUT WEAK KNEES FUELED BY “APATHY” HAVE MADE MOST NOTHING MORE THAN “WORTHLESS COMPLAINERS”.

  6. Yet when you speak to legislators they say, “we don’t see the evidence.” The SCHOOLS know, but then Nashville is so blue they are willing to hide it.
