The Tennessee Conservative [ By Olivia Lupia] –

In the third installment of our survey series, the TN-7 candidates offer their top priorities should they be sent to Washington D.C. and give their preferences for committee assignments they’d like once there.

*Note: All 11 qualified Republican candidates were afforded the opportunity to participate in the survey, only 4 completed the questionnaire. Each candidate was asked the same questions, and their responses are presented verbatim. Candidate responses are in the same order in which their names will appear on the ballot.

What would be your top three priorities in Washington D.C. and why?

Jody Barrett:

1. Bringing courage and principles to the Republican party. C.S. Lewis said that “Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing points.” I will bring courage, backbone, and principle to our party.

2. Standing up for our values: I’ll fight radical woke policies, protect our Second Amendment rights, and defend life. Congress should serve the people, not political insiders. My priorities come straight from the people, and that is who I will fight for.

3. Representing Tennessee Families: I will always serve you and vote your values and interests.

Gino Bulso: First, I will fight to secure the border, for without sovereignty, no nation endures. Second, I will defend parental rights and the family, because without strong families, freedom collapses. Third, I will work to limit federal power and restore constitutional government. These are not abstract priorities—they are the pillars of a free people. My record shows I do not flinch from defending truth, whether in the courtroom or legislature. In Congress, I will carry that same spirit, placing principle above politics, so Tennessee’s voice is heard and Washington remembers who truly holds authority: the people.

Stewart Parks: First, we must solve illegal immigration and ensure Americans get first priority when it comes to jobs and aid. Second, we need to end the two-tier justice system, stacked with rogue activist judges, that saw patriotic Americans, like me, thrown into prison simply for exercising their First Amendment rights. And finally, I want to ensure that our seniors and veterans are given the attention and honor they deserve.

Tres Wittum: Faith, Family, and Fiscal Sanity. First, secure the border—build the wall, end birthright citizenship, and stop sanctuary policies that fuel crime in places like Nashville. Second, restore fiscal sanity—stop reckless spending, balance the budget, and pay down the debt so our kids aren’t bankrupt. Third, defend freedom—protect faith, families, and Tennessee values from federal overreach. Washington has forgotten who it works for. My job is simple: Stand shoulder to shoulder with President Trump to drain the swamp and end corruption in Washington, and fight for Tennesseans.

On what committee(s) are you interested in serving and why?

Jody Barrett:  The Agriculture and Commerce committees. Born and raised in rural Dickson County, I understand that agriculture is the backbone of Tennessee’s economy and way of life. Our farmers and rural communities need a strong voice in Washington to push back against overregulation, protect family farms, and ensure food security. The Commerce Committee is where I can fight for Tennessee’s small businesses, job creators, and workers, cutting red tape, holding Big Tech accountable, and making sure America competes from a position of strength. These committees align with Tennessee’s values and priorities, and they will allow me to defend our rural heritage and our economic future.

Gino Bulso: I seek to serve where the defense of liberty requires vigilance. On the Judiciary Committee, I can defend constitutional principles, resist judicial activism, and protect parental rights. On the Homeland Security Committee, I can press for true border security, safeguarding Tennessee families against lawlessness and foreign threats. On the Education and the Workforce Committee, I can stand against radical indoctrination and restore parents to their rightful place. These committees speak to my calling as an attorney, a father, and a legislator: to defend order, protect freedom, and serve Tennesseans faithfully. My voice will never waver from that mission.

Stewart Parks: I would love to serve on the Judiciary Committee, to ensure that activist judges are held accountable and that Americans are guaranteed their rights within the legal system. I would also love to serve on the Armed Forces Committee, and/or the Agriculture Committee, to ensure that our veterans and farmers are well represented in D.C.

Tres Wittum: In Congress, I’ll fight where Tennesseans need it most. On Oversight and Accountability, I’ll work to expose waste, corruption, and the weaponization of government. On Budget, I’ll push for real fiscal sanity—stop reckless spending, balance the budget, and pay down our debt. And on Small Business, I’ll fight for the entrepreneurs and job creators who make our communities strong. These committees fit my background and priorities—holding Washington accountable, restoring responsibility to our finances, and making life more affordable for working families. That’s how we bring Tennessee values to Washington.
