Red Bank residents are looking at another property tax increase, marking the third time they have seen a tax hike in the last five years.

The fiscal year 2027 could bring an increase of up to 14%, bringing it from $1.13 to $1.29. This has left many homeowners questioning how those funds are being budgeted.

According to Mayor Stefanie Dalton, the city has failed to adequately plan for the future.

Additionally, city officials say a 2025 audit of their budget showed that a miscalculation in Hamilton County’s 2025 countywide property reappraisal left them short $700,000.

Residents, however, are concerned about the city’s spending, including the amount paid out to employees. According to the city, salaries are calculated to make them compete with neighboring areas and is still lower than many of them.

City officials stated that the continued increase in property taxes comes because Red Bank does not have other revenue coming in.

This increase comes as other areas across the state have voted down property tax increases or have begun to implement programs to initiate property tax freezes for some qualified citizens.
