U.S. Representative Tim Burchett has introduced legislation to implement term limits for incoming members of Congress.

These new term limits would not apply to members of Congress holding office on the day the amendment is ratified.

Burchett said, “Many U.S. House reps vocally support term limits but fail to act when the time comes.  I understand many sitting members do not want term limits to apply to them. Grandfathering these members allows commonsense term limits to take effect, retires entrenched political power brokers, and creates a Congress full of fresh ideas.”

Burchett stated that he believes the only way for the legislation to pass is for it to exempt current members as it would jeopardize their seats.

He went on to state that anytime a like bill has been presented without an exemption, the bills are passed on to a study committee or delayed indefinitely.

Burchett’s legislation would amend the U.S. Constitution to impose term limits on all incoming members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Under this resolution, House members could serve three two-year terms while senators could serve two six-year terms.

Burchett stated, “The longer politicians stay in Washington, the more beholden they become to the special-interests who line their pockets. The Founding Fathers never intended for people to go to Washington and make a career out of it.”

Thank you, Rep. TIm Burchette for legislation regarding Term Limits. The Washington political machine was never imagined by our forefathers, I hope this can move forward and bring new ideas to better serve “We the People”. The Congressmen today owe too many favors, too far removed to relate to the needs or concerns of today’s average or low income US Citizen. Many will freeze in their homes, not have food on their table, unable to pay for RX medications or put gas on their car so they can go to work. Spending Trillions of our Tax dollars on wasteful pet programs: Immigrant subsidies, Electric cars, allowing drugs, illegal immigration, crime and violence to be part of our lives. “Let them eat Cake” attitude.

This is the right way to get term limits, and not with an Article V Convention, which is a wolf in sheep’s clothing that the Marxists would love to convene.
