Lakie Derrick is on a mission to save America by inspiring young people to become active in civic affairs and better understand the founding principles of our nation.

She approaches her work from a biblical and spiritual perspective, and it is catching on.

Like many conservative minded people, Derrick believes that some of our nation’s schools have gotten away from teaching traditional values, appreciation of our unique system of government, and the importance of the constitution.

She officially represents Club America and spends time promoting constitutional education and registering high school seniors to vote. Her contact information is as follows.

Too often, the federal government steps out of its Article I boundaries and takes on powers that were not enumerated. The education system fails to adequately address this, and it is up to organizations like Club America to fill the gaps.

Both Derrick and Jefferson County School Board member Paul Hardy commented as follows for this news report.

“For far too long, states have allowed the federal government to railroad over their rights—our rights as Americans. Under Article 1 section 8 of the Constitution, the federal government is given jurisdiction over areas concerning taxation and national security. It is not widely known or taught that our founders solidified states’ rights in the Bill of Rights entirety, not just under the Tenth Amendment. The Preamble to the Bill of Rights states that it was meant to give further explanation to our rights that fall under state jurisdiction. As the federal government makes laws regarding our freedom of religion, they are actively defying the Constitution. States like Louisiana and Oklahoma are winning court cases regarding teaching the Bible in schools or putting the Ten Commandments in classrooms because states are well within their rights to do so. It is time that Tennessee stands against government overreach that has driven our nation and state further from God and Truth and put Almighty God back in our classrooms.” – said Lakie Derrick, Representative, Club America

Derrick has support from at least one Jefferson County School Board Member. He believes, like Derrick, that students should be engaged in civic affairs, understand how government policy affects their lives, and become more skilled at critical thinking. His views are in line with Club America.

“Registering to vote is a crucial step for students to make their voices heard on issues that affect their education, future and communities. By participating in elections, students can influence policies on student loans, tuition, and other matters that can impact their lives in the future.

Teaching students about the Constitution is essential because it gives them a deeper understanding of American history, government, and their role in shaping the countries future. It also helps them develop critical thinking skills by analyzing different interpretations and applications of the Constitutions principles.” – said Paul Hardy, Jefferson County School Board Member

The Tennessee Conservative News will follow Club America and report on their progress in Tennessee schools.
