The Tennessee Conservative [By Kelly M. Jackson] –
Last week, FBI director Christopher Wray made visits to the existing FBI field offices in Memphis and Knoxville. There has not been a significant FBI presence in Nashville, that is until now.
Recent reports quote Wray’s enthusiasm that the FBI will now essentially centralize their power presence in Nashville, making the new office the main office for the agency in the state of Tennessee.
Wray said, “I’m excited about what the new Nashville Field Office means for the Bureau and for the people of Tennessee, the FBI will maintain a strong presence in both Memphis and Knoxville, as well as our existing locations throughout Tennessee, and centralizing in Nashville will put the right people in the right places to best meet the needs of our workforce and the communities we serve.”
Beginning October 1, the Nashville Resident Agency will become the Nashville Field Office. With the reorganization, the Memphis and Knoxville offices will become resident agencies. After the changes are made, the state will then have one main office and nine resident agencies.
Tennesseans may find the changes a bit unsettling due to the failure of legislation this past session that would have protected citizens in the state from being a target of any federal investigation that would include the use of state and local law enforcement.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Joey Hensley (R-Hohenwald-District 28) and Representative Todd Warner (R-Chapel Hill-District 92) and had very simple language.
Senate Bill 2804 / House Bill 2912 states, “By deleting all language by the enacting clause and substituting section 1, of the Tennessee Code annotated Title 38, Chapter 8, pt. 1, is amended by adding the following new section: in the event a law enforcement agency in the state nominates personnel to be deputized as a federal task force officer on a joint terrorism task force, the chief law enforcement officer from the nominee’s respective law enforcement agency must approve each national security investigation in which the nominee participates.”
As explained on The Glenn Beck Show, Steve Friend, Fellow at Center for Renewing America, and FBI whistleblower exposing the weaponization of federal law enforcement resources on American citizens who carry out participation in what are objectively held Constitutionally protected activities such as church or school board attendance to exercise your 1st Amendment rights, the bill would have protected Tennesseans who might become the focus of an intelligence gathering operation, and use taxpayer funded local law enforcement resources to do it.
The FBI has no obligation to inform the democratically elected sheriff that their deputies are being utilized to spy on the very citizens they have been charged by the Constitution to protect.
However, the bill was killed in the Senate Judiciary Committee before even having had the opportunity to see the light of day on the chamber floors for a full vote.
Representative Todd Warner, the House co-sponsor of the bill, had this to say at the time, “I’m not sure what is worse, having government funded lobbyists work against a bill, or dealing with a committee that doesn’t seem to be able to think for themselves, or even consider what it is their constituents would want.”
The failure of the bill being laid entirely at the feet of Republicans, is now not in place to shield citizens from unwarranted scrutiny, like Wilson County resident Paul Vaughn who was arrested and convicted for praying in front of a Mt. Juliet abortion clinic, for violation of the FACE Act (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances).
Vaughn’s conviction did not result in additional jail time, however the conviction is being appealed.
With this centralization of FBI resources in Nashville, it calls into question why the changes are being made now, at the end of the Biden Administration, with the possibility of another Trump administration taking back the White House in November.
Many Tennesseans are hopeful that another Trump administration will address the weaponization of federal level law enforcement apparatuses targeting conservatives, and punishing them for exercising their Constitutional rights.

Your Socialist Kalifornia now. The Uniparty won
Yup, the Senate Judiciary Committee is lucifer’s own.
To begin with, FBI is unconstitutional and should be dissolved. The Constitution does not give the federal gov’t police power whatsoever! It only allows for power to protect our citizens from FOREIGN entities and spies. The FBI’s job shoukd be done by local police!
I don’t disagree with your theory on this. The FBI is just as corrupt as the administration that is in our White House. Until we get them out, we have no hope for our Country, period.
Yep

A Corrupt Agency in a Corrupt City now.
The fbi knew about Epstein for well over a decade, had evidence, and had witnesses, yet let him continue what he was doing.
The fbi shut down the investigation into the Las Vegas shooting.
The fbi shut down the investigation to the tranny school shooter in Nashville.
The fbi has Anthony Weiner’s laptop and did nothing.
The fbi has Hunter Biden’s laptop and did nothing.
They are not here to help.
… Yet our state reps act like they have a crush on the fbi. How embarassing.
