Two Republican U.S. House Representatives from Tennessee have voted to pass the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act, along with 78 of their Republican colleagues. If this bill is passed by the Senate and then signed into law it will appropriate funds for a federal vaccination database to the tune of $400 Million.

In addition to improving immunization information systems that are utilized by health departments and health care providers, the bill expands CDC and public health department capabilities. While the bill purports to adopt and maintain standards to protect individually identifiable health information, it also aims to support real-time immunization record data exchange and reporting “to support rapid identification of immunization coverage gaps.”

Representatives Chuck Fleischmann and David Kustoff are the only Republican U.S. House Representatives from Tennessee that voted in favor of the bill.

Kustoff and Fleischmann have both posted on social media about not supporting the Democratic party’s reconciliation bill. Fleischman posted a statement to Twitter on November 19th that read, “Today, I voted NO on the biggest expansion of federal government power in more than 50-years.” While HR550 is not in the same league in terms of spending, it is no small amount of money.

The American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA), a lobbying group, created a list of talking points aimed at persuading legislators to vote for HR550. On their website AIRA states that they value “the voluntary and collaborative interaction of all of its members and others interested in developing the electronic healthcare infrastructure necessary to prevent and control vaccine-preventable diseases.”

Two of the talking points listed in the handout, the exchange of immunization data in real time between different healthcare entities and the ability to see what immunizations have been missed along with the push for IIS to implement SmartyStreets, an address validation tool, suggests that in the future, Americans could be tracked to their homes and harassed over missing vaccines or boosters deemed essential in fighting a future pandemic.

The Tennessee Conservative is currently running a poll asking if Congress should pass legislation to approve a national immunization database.

Powell resident Karen Roe had this to say, “Healthcare should be confidential, between patient and doctor. There should be NO immunization database that is nationwide to be used to institute vaccine passports. We currently have physician offices that keep this info in databases that are called electronic medical records. My fear is that the physicians who have forgotten their oath in exchange for money will be ok with selling that info.”

One Tennessee Conservative subscriber said, “I’m not happy that our House of Representative, Chuck Fleischmann signed the H. R. 550 bill that’s headed to the Senate.  Major overreach in maintaining our medical freedoms!  Very disappointing!”

Bob Johnson, a concerned Tennessean said of Fleischmann and Kustoff’s Yea votes, “Can’t believe it of either. Supposedly a “confidential” Federal record. (Can you say Justice Department, FBI, CIA, etc.)”

You can contact your U.S. Senators for Tennessee to let them know how you want them to vote on the bill in the U.S. Senate with the following information.

  1. I think our Medical Records should continue to be private and confidential. There’s a fine line between this registry and total access/control of our healthcare and demonizing people for personal choices.

  2. RINOS! Go along to get along. These two need to go to the woodshed for remedial Constitutional 101. Due diligence by either would have gobsmacked them both this is a faux pandemic, a gross abuse of overreach, significant fraud in virtually every aspect and this HR is another unconstitutional abridgment of personal freedom. Suggest both districts find more suitable candidates and primary both of these .
