A Grainger County school board member has been indicted on charges of rape.
Board Member Steven Blanken was arrested back in February after a parent reported a suspected inappropriate relationship between Blanken and a juvenile that took place between December 2025 and February 2026.
Court documents show that the incident allegedly involved a 16-year-old girl and occurred in a remote location in Grainger County.
School officials immediately banned Blanken from school property pending the investigation and requested that the Attorney General, District Attorney, or county attorney take action to have Blanken removed from his elected position on the school board.
Blanken is now facing three counts of statutory rape.
