Tennessee Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty won his second term on Tuesday.

Hagerty defeated Democrat Marquita Bradshaw, carrying 55.4% of the votes when the race was called after 10 p.m.

Hagerty ran unopposed in the Republican primary. He was the Tennessee Economic and Community Development director under former Gov. Bill Haslam.

He served as Japan ambassador from 2017 to 2019 during President Donald Trump’s first term. He was first elected to the Senate in 2020.

Bradshaw defeated four candidates in the primary. She is director of the Memphis nonprofit Sowing Justice. She ran for the U.S. Senate seat in 2020 and lost in the 2024 Democratic primary for Republican Marsha Blackburn’s seat.

None of the eight independent candidates polled at more than 1%.
