Jefferson County, Tennessee School System employs a third-party mental health provider, Allied Behavioral Health Solutions (Allied), a business relationship that started in 2019 according to records obtained under Tennessee’s Open Records Act.

Under the terms of a contract that was renewed on July 17, 2023, by the director of Jefferson County schools, Allied’s executive director, and the Jefferson County finance director, at least 10 Allied School Based Behavioral Health Liaisons will work in Jefferson County Schools providing a wide range of counseling services to students.

Copies of the last two contracts between Jefferson County Schools and Allied can be found at the link provided here. (ALLIED CONTRACTS1) (ALLIED CONTRACTS2)

Allied openly advertised on its website, social media platforms, and employment postings from 2020 to present its LGBTQ+ ideology. Specifically, those platforms included images of transgender ideology, represented by the “T” in the acronym LGBTQ+. Allied removed those images from its media platforms in February, March, and April 2023 after concerned citizens confronted the Jefferson County School Board. Screenshot images were captured before those images were scrubbed. A link to those captured LGBTQ+ images is provided here. (ALLIED LGBTQ+ IMAGES)

The statement on page 3 of the current contract excluding “gender affirming medical treatment” is moot because the Tennessee legislature made it unlawful to perform such medical treatment on minors. See pc0001.pdf (tnsosfiles.com) However, nothing in the contract precludes Allied from providing gender affirming counseling for students.

One image captured (before removal) from the Allied website on January 4, 2023, was from its CHILD AND ADOLESCENT COUNSELING page, a counseling service titled “Exploration of Gender and Sexual Identity.”

According to the Lesbian & Gay Community Services Center, Inc., of New York, The (+) symbol in the LGBTQ+ acronym represents “all of the gender identities and sexual orientations that letters and words cannot yet fully describe.” Their web address is provided here for reference: Defining LGBTQIA+ (gaycenter.org)

A written theme appearing on Allied’s most recent job posting for employment, and previous postings, states as follows: “All candidates [for employment] should be fully affirming of the LGBTQ+ community and dedicated to a journey of racial healing.”

A screenshot image of Allied’s recent job posting is provided below, dated August 4, 2023.

On March 24, 2023, a resolution was made by the Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee requesting that Jefferson County Schools remove Allied from the school district. The resolution expressed concerns that transgender ideology and other adult themes could potentially be discussed or affirmed in private confidential counseling sessions with students aged 4-17 in Jefferson County Schools. VITAL POLICY – Jefferson County Republican Party Calls for the Removal of Allied Behavioral Health Solutions and LGBTQ+ Ideology from Jefferson County Schools | The Jefferson County Post

The leadership of the Jefferson County, Tennessee Republican Party recognizes that adult members of our society have the liberty to live a lifestyle of their choosing, including LGBTQ+ and other lifestyles. However, we also recognize our duty to inform the public and recommend that children receive age-appropriate counseling, guidance, and instruction within our public schools.

We, Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee, renew our request that Jefferson County Schools end its business relationship with Allied and that the Director of Jefferson County Schools utilize a 30-day cancellation provision found on page 7, paragraph 3 of its current contract with Allied.

It all depends on your school system. In Jefferson County we needle information out of our system one fragment at a time with records requests. Another thing that needs to be watched is grant funding. Last year, our school system obtained a grant called the Resilient School Communities Grant to help fund mental health services. This grant provided funding, in part, for Allied. This year the grant that will be used for mental health is called by a different name. All of this is designed to be a moving target.
