Tom Spangler, the Sheriff of Knox County sent President Joe Biden a letter last week declaring that he will not comply with the Unconstitutional vaccine mandate stating that it will drive many employees out of law enforcement at a time when they are already short-handed.

In his letter to Biden, Spangler outlined the reasons he believes the mandate puts Knox County residents at risk.

Spangler wrote, “We are at a time in our Country where men and women are leaving the profession of law enforcement in record numbers.  If I were to enforce the mandate; it is likely we could lose a large majority of our workforce, putting the lives of our citizens in immediate danger.”

Spangler states that if the mandate was enforced, it would be more difficult to acquire and retain talent in the Sheriff’s office.

“Our deputies, corrections officers, and support staff are overworked and underpaid.  Therefore, retention remains challenging.  This mandate would also make the Knox County Sheriff’s Office less attractive for those seeking a career in law enforcement,” Spangler stated.

Spangler states that both he and Biden were elected by the people to look out for their best interests and uphold the United States Constitution and that he is deeply concerned about Biden’s lack of regard for the Constitution and the freedom of the citizens of Knox County.

“I took an oath to protect, serve, and enforce the laws which are created by our legislative body.  I fulfill this oath daily with honor and integrity, as do the men and women of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. We will not become the mandate police,” Spangler wrote.

Spangler states, “We are still the land of the FREE because of the BRAVE.  It is my hope that more community leaders will stand against this unconstitutional mandate.  I am hopeful they see it for what it is – government overreach.”

Here are a few of the comments praising Sheriff Spangler for standing up for the rights of Knox County residents:

Kibbee McCoy said, “Thank you Sheriff Spangler. You have great integrity standing up to unconstitutional mandates and lookout for the best interest of our county. Thank you for true leadership. May God continue to bless you, our law enforcement and the great citizens of Knox County!”

Sherry Purnell stated, “Thank you for standing up for the freedoms our constitution provides us. It seems our current U.S. government is trying to strip that away from all US citizens.  I personally do not have a problem with someone that gets or doesn’t get that vaccine.  I do, however, have a problem with government force, mandates, and threats.”

Frank Humphrey said, “THAT, Ladies and gentlemen is why I can proudly say that our Sheriff has no equal. I am so proud of his leadership. The good people of Knox County are blessed to have such a courageous leader at the helm of our Department.”
