The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

Conservative speaker Kyle Rittenhouse is making plans to return to the University of Memphis for another speaking engagement, despite being disrupted by protesters when he visited the campus nearly a year ago.

Rittenhouse was invited to return by Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the same group who brought him in the last time, to talk about his experiences in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and to discuss Second Amendment rights.

The event will be held on the University of Memphis campus on Wednesday, February 26, in the Edward J. Meeman Journalism Building.

It was planned after the university was asked by a Conservative Christian group to reschedule the event after they were forced to “shut down” the original event, held on March 20, 2024, after only a few minutes because of a “mob” that protested the event.

Attorneys from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) say they sent a letter to university officials, asking them to also refund the $1600 security fee that was previously charged, alleging that the provided officers “stood idly by.”

The University has released the following statement to WREG regarding the event: “The speaker has been invited by a registered student organization. This event is not sponsored by the University of Memphis.”
