Empowered Jefferson is making an urgent petition to Tennessee legislators to reject any bill or amendment that would create a waiver for Medicaid funds to be used for mental health services, especially school-based mental health services and gender affirming counseling.
The fear among the members of this conservative grassroots organization is that more federal money would advance left-leaning ideology in a variety of institutions and create more federal entanglement.
During the last legislative session, the Tennessee General Assembly enacted laws that prohibit gender transition surgery and medical treatment for minors but fell short of making it unlawful to provide gender affirming counseling for minors.
Empowered Jefferson’s letter to Tennessee lawmakers identifies such counseling as a pathway to what the Federalist calls “the school to scalpel pipeline”, article linked here.
A copy of the Empowered Jefferson petition is pictured below.

This should go out to the public so that they can contact their legislators!!!
THIS is the REAL reason for this session.- tying TN into the feds via Medicaid to partake of “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act” of July 2022. Lee started all this to get us under the fed finger. Deceitful. What the feds fund, they control. STOP THIS BILL.
