A man accused of assaulting a female police officer in Nashville earlier this month has been found to be an illegal alien from Jamaica, according to police.

MNPD stated that 35-year-old Tarfari Renaldo McIntosh, who was allegedly driving under the influence, left the scene of three different accidents before he was spotted at a car wash by officer Bailee Mathers.

When Mathers attempted to confront McIntosh, he hit her. Mathers tased him, but then he pulled off the taser probes and hit her a second time.

ICE officials confirmed that McIntosh had at one time been granted a B2 temporary tourism visa but had overstayed it by more than three years.

McIntosh is now facing a number of charges: driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident-causing injury, leaving the scene of an accident with damage of $1,500 or less, leaving the scene of an accident with damage over $1,500 and assault on a law enforcement officer with bodily injury.

His case was bound over to criminal court on September 19 after a probable cause hearing. He is now awaiting a grand jury indictment.
