The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) released the August wrap up for the Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) on Monday, showing the team made 853 arrests through the month, with numerous individuals detained for homicide and sex offenses, seized 188 illegal firearms, and recovered 13 missing children.
According to the USMS press release, of those 853 arrests 14 were for homicide, 50 for controlled substances, 74 for firearms violations, and 11 for sex offenses. 122 of those arrested were known gang members and 50 were juveniles.
Some significant arrests the wrap up highlighted include:
- Amarion Threlkeld, 18, wanted on charges of criminal attempt second-degree murder. Threlkeld was taken into custody Aug. 7 after he and family members coordinated a time and place for him to turn himself into authorities. Additional charges include five counts of criminal attempt employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Threlkeld was held on a $50,000 bond and was due in court yesterday morning.
- Christopher Warf, 52, wanted for rape of a child. Warf was also arrested Aug. 7 during a traffic stop by MSTF members thanks to a lead sent from U.S. Marshals in Nashville.
- Tho Ho, 55, was initially indicted July 30 in Shelby County on charges of rape of a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and aggravated battery. His arrest on Aug. 12 came after MSTF members learned Ho had fled to Arizona and sent a collateral lead to U.S. Marshals in Arizona who located and arrested him. Both Ho’s cellular devices were seized as evidence.
- Darseantese Dean, 27, was arrested Aug. 12 for murder and attempted murder on a warrant issued July 13 out of Mississippi. MSTF members located Dean at a residence after receiving information he was in the Memphis area, collecting two 7.62 magazines and a high-capacity drum magazine for evidence during the arrest.
- Aaron Collins, 49, arrested on Aug. 25 for second-degree murder and tampering with evidence after his alleged involvement with a fatal stabbing incident. Collins is reportedly due in court on Friday with bond yet to be set.
And while not directly connected to the MSTF, ICE arrested over 120 illegal aliens at the end of August during “Operation Corral Light” at the “El Corralon” nightclub in Memphis. Among those arrested were illegal aliens with criminal histories including larceny, drug possession, domestic violence, driving while intoxicated, assault, child endangerment, and prostitution.
“The Memphis Safe Task Force remains committed to its mission to protect the citizens of Memphis by arresting and holding accountable those who pose a threat to public safety,” said U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee Tyreece Miller. “Every arrest made and every gun recovered contributes to that mission. I commend the men and women who have dedicated themselves to this endeavor and who are making a difference in the lives of this community.”
