Moms For Liberty To Host Social Emotional Learning 101 In Franklin, TN

Grassroots organization Moms for Liberty – Williamson County (M4L-WC) has partnered with Parents’ Choice Tennessee (PCTN) to present “Social Emotional Learning (SEL) 101,” occurring on Monday, October 17th, at 6:00 PM, at Generations Church, 408 Church Street, in downtown Franklin.
SEL101 is part of the chapter’s “2022-2023 School Year for Parents” initiative, focusing on one critical issue in Williamson County Schools per month. The October focus is Social Emotional Learning, and SEL101 offers parents a “crash course” on this topic.
From kindergarten to high school, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is interwoven through nearly every facet of a student’s school day. It is federally funded, thus federally mandated, prioritized in school curriculum, and present throughout extra-curricular class material, classroom activities, student surveys, student counseling, and beyond.
SEL can be difficult for the average parent to define. One parent described it as “trying to nail jell-o to a wall.” Trisha Lucente of Parents’ Choice TN describes SEL as the “railroad tracks” upon which every agenda and ideology is rolled into the schools. Robin Steenman of Moms for Liberty – Williamson County states, “SEL facilitates nearly every other agenda. It is critically important for parents to become aware of what it is, what it does, and what they can do to advocate for their children in the school environment.”
SEL101 will feature two experts in the field: Dr. James Lindsay, an expert on the various critical theories in our schools, and Jennifer McWilliams, the foremost expert on SEL in the country:
Jennifer McWilliams: (www.jennifermcwilliamsconsulting.com) a former teacher who, in 2019, became very concerned about the alarming shift in focus from academics to ideology in K-12 education. She was fired for exposing the indoctrinating SEL agenda in her school and is now the country’s leading expert on SEL and how it has infiltrated every school district in America.
Dr. James Lindsay: (www.newdiscourses.com) an author, mathematician, and political commentator, Dr. Lindsay has written six books spanning a range of subjects including religion, science philosophy and postmodern theory. He is the founder of New Discourses, an organization “dedicated to shining the light of objective truth in subjective darkness,” and is a vocal speaker on the “Marxification of Education.” He has been featured on Fox News, Glenn Beck, Joe Rogan, NPR, and many others.
SEL in the Wit & Wisdom elementary school curriculum is central to Parents’ Choice Tennessee’s lawsuit against Williamson County Schools Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Board of Education, and the Tennessee Commissioner of Education, Penny Schwinn. Per PCTN: “Wit & Wisdom uses Social Emotional Learning to masquerade as a sort of ‘feel good’ approach that steers young elementary-age children to horrific discussions of the savagery of slavery, war, misery, sexual aggression and death.” [emphasis added]
The federally-funded Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), which advocates for the “systemic implementation” of SEL, describes SEL as follows:
“We define social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.”
Moms for Liberty Williamson County would like to draw attention to the buzzwords “develop identities,” “inequity” and “empower.” While these may sound like well-intended efforts, behind the scenes they’ve discovered far more sinister intentions.
When young children are introduced to complex matter with a world view of inequity, the result is often catastrophic.
