The Tennessee Conservative [By Jason Vaughn] –

The majority of Nashville Metro City Council members sent a letter to Nashville Mayor John Cooper about the State’s Special Session on issues related to COVID-19.

In the letter signed by 24 of the 41 members of the Metro Council, they write that the legislation passed by the Tennessee General Assembly is “alarming” and state that while they are accustomed to “attacks on Nashville’s ability to govern itself,” these new laws are “unprecedented and dangerous.”

They state that the new set of rules is “overreaching, unfair and perhaps unlawful.”

In the three-page letter, the Council Members went on to outline the new rules (as they interpret them) that they find troubling, including:

  • Prohibiting Metro or MPNS from requiring employees to receive the vaccine
  • Prohibiting private businesses and schools from requiring proof of vaccination in order to access facilities and/or services
  • Prohibition on requiring masks to enter Metro facilities
  • Prohibition on MNPS requiring masks to enter its facilities
  • Prohibition on entertainment venues requiring proof of vaccination to gain admission
  • State Commissioner of Health having the sole authority to quarantine a person, close a Private Business or close a School due to COVID
  • The Governor having exclusive power to issue executive orders related to COVID.
  • The new rule that states that no funds may be spent on any federal rule or law that mandates a COVID countermeasure
  • Limitation of the discretion and authority of the Davidson County District Attorney
  • Nashville not being able to select the person who will lead the Health Department

The Council Members go on to request for Metro Legal to prepare a full report to be presented to the Metro Council regarding how these new rules will “limit any of Metro’s discretion or authority.”

By “Metro,” they are referring to any component of Metro government including the Mayor’s office, the Metro Council, Metro area schools, MDHA, the Health Department and the District Attorney’s Office.

They also recommend that Nashville explores all of its options “in the face of these new laws” up to and including litigation.

Precisely – these angry liberals have no qualms about taking away personal liberties, as long as it does not affect their values. That is NOT how the US Constitution was written,

Ah the ‘intellectual’ Marxists espousing control over common sense, following the real science and unfamiliarity with the Constitution. We are essentially a ‘red’ state with some purple lesions Nashville being the worst.

If only we could get all the Communists together in just a few states so they could leave the rest of the sane people alone. It’s tragic that they’re never content to leave ANYTHING alone until they’ve destroyed it.

Just because the liberals are crying because their feelings are hurt. Doesn’t mean they can ignore the state constitution and trample over our rights. They always seem to forget that part. We are citizens of the state of Tennessee also! It is funny how they always preach about my body, my choice and follow the science only when it benefits them. They act like a bunch of spoiled rotten children when they don’t get their way. I guess they got too many trophies as kids that they actually didn’t earn. Isn’t funny how most large cities and it doesn’t matter whether they are in red or blue states are liberal cesspools, devoid of any kind of morals. Long live the Republic!

Why don’t all these crybabies move to a Blue state and leave the rest of us alone?
