A Nashville man was arrested last week after allegedly vandalizing a local hotel and issuing death threats against former President Donald Trump.

58-year-old Jack Campitelli was arrested and charged with trespassing, vandalism, and disorderly conduct, and the Secret Service was notified regarding his statements.

A hotel employee at the JW Marriot on 8th Avenue South flagged down a passing Metro Nashville police officer just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning. According to the employee, Campitelli had been asked to leave the premises after the incident, but he refused.

The man was accused of throwing chairs from the hotel balcony. This was confirmed when officers viewed hotel security footage.

As he was being arrested, Campitelli began shouting about politicians.

He yelled, “Trump needs to die because he was a liar,” according to the arresting officer.

This incident comes on the heels of the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump was in attendance at the Bitcoin2024 conference in Nashville on Saturday.

Organizers had already planned for heightened security for the former president.

While there were no immediate security threats against him, two opposing groups did briefly take issue with one another as they were demonstrating in downtown Nashville.

A group was rallying outside of Music City Center in opposition of alleged hate groups that have caused incident in the city recently. As they came to face a group of supporters for Trump, the two groups began to argue.

Officers separated the two groups without further issue just prior to Trump taking the stage to speak on Saturday.
