During a recent press conference, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell refused to acknowledge his actions, through the issuance of a controversial executive order, resulted in the doxing of several federal immigration agents. Instead, he blames the officers for wearing masks to protect their identities.

Karen Agular, a reporter for Fox 17 News, asked O’Connell if he believes that posting the names of federal immigration officers endangered them, but O’Connell didn’t appear to think so. He and his office have maintained that the release of the names was an accidental oversight and that the agents were not put at any “additional risk” by the leaking of their information.

Agular’s first follow-up addressed the mayor’s seeming contradictions in later removing the names from the publicly accessible website if he did not believe agents were at greater risk. So if it doesn’t put them at additional risk, why did your office decide to remove the names?” she pressed.

O’Connell’s blasé response was that this “process” (presumably referring to Executive Order 30 which mandates all city employees, including law enforcement, report and publish any interactions with federal immigration agencies) is, “something new, we’re reviewing it, and that the situation was only addressed because the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) raised concerns.

“Do you understand the concerns of DHS when they’re talking about endangering federal immigration officers by posting the names?” Agular continued.

O’Connell’s response proved he sees no wrongdoing in his administration’s actions, “I understand the concerns but it’s not a process that I would characterize as doxing. It was an unintentional release of names that were already part of a public record.”

He then not only continued in his refusal to admit his actions endangered law enforcement officials but then leveled accusations at the agents themselves for concealing their identities during immigration enforcement operations.

“I wouldn’t say it was an endangerment process, I would say they may have some concerns. I’m far more concerned about the overall dynamic we have about unmarked, unidentifiable masked people whisking people into vehicles, I think that’s a bigger concern,” he asserted.

As Agular prepared to ask a final question, the conference was abruptly adjourned, cutting her off mid-sentence, and even O’Connell appeared surprised by the interruption. “Alright, well, I guess we’ve gotta go,” he joked as he stepped away from the podium.

Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles, who is spearheading a congressional investigation into O’Connell for obstruction of immigration enforcement operations, weighed in on the interaction, reposting the interview clip and writing, “ICE agents and their families are not safe because of Freddie’s reckless actions. And he’s not even sorry…This investigation is far from over. Stay Tuned.”

DHS appeared to concur with the Congressman’s sentiments, adding their own message to O’Connell on social media. “At a time when our ICE officers are being assaulted by violent rioters, Mayor O’Connell is publicly sharing the names of the law enforcement agents removing criminal illegal aliens from his city. This Administration is not playing games with the lives and safety of our ICE officers. People doxing our officers and impeding ICE operations are siding with cartels, human traffickers, and vicious criminals,” the post read.

The investigation has reportedly requested O’Connell turn over all documents and communications from May 1 to the present, including all documents related to Executive Order 30. It further asked for all documents and communications referring or relating to ICE enforcement actions in Nashville or Davidson County and for those between Metro employees and non-Metro employees, including non-governmental organizations, which referred or related to the arrest of criminal aliens in the area.

Ogles confirmed receipt of documents from O’Connell’s office on June 17 and stated his team, along with the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, “are currently reviewing the materials and will provide further updates soon on the next steps in our investigation. Understand this: we will follow the facts wherever they lead, we will expose the truth, and we will defend Tennessee. Everything is on the table.”

  1. Yup, lucifer’s illegal loving, fast Freddie, doing what dimmercraps do best, lying and denying.

  2. Nashville’s Mayor Freddie O’Connell risks waking up shot………… His actions albeit popular in the Democrat party for “resistance” to Trump…it puts ICE agents and their family in danger. So, Mayor Freddie O’Connell should also be in the same danger his actions are doing….. there are nuts on both sides of the deportation debate.
