The Tennessee Conservative [By Adelia Kirchner] –
A new bill to ban gender transition procedures on children in the state of Tennessee has been assigned to committees in the House and Senate and is on the schedule to be heard this week.
The “Protecting Children from Gender Mutilation Act” would prohibit any medical treatment that “alters a child’s hormonal balance” and procedures “that remove their organs to enable the minor to identify as a gender different from their biological sex.”
HB0001 is being sponsored by Rep. William Lamberth (R-Portland-District 44) and its corresponding Senate Bill, SB0001 is being sponsored by Sen. Jack Johnson (R-Franklin-District 27).
The bill aims to protect minors from the negative physiological and psychological effects of “gender affirming care” by putting legal and monetary consequences in place for adults that violate their role in caring for these children, whether as a parent or a healthcare provider.
Additional information on this bill can be found in a previous article by The Tennessee Conservative.
Regardless of Tennessee’s Mature Minor Doctrine, the language in this bill recognizes that minors lack the maturity to make decisions that will have “life-altering consequences.”
With more and more “detransitioners” documenting their heartbreaking stories of regret, as well as physical and mental health issues stemming from their “transitions,” preventative legislation like this is vital in the fight to protect children in the state of Tennessee and across the country.

I have called everyone on the house sub committee. That we allow our minor children to have irreversible surgeries and hormone therapies is unconscionable and must be stopped now. I will be watching the proceedings tomorrow.
