SUMNER COUNTY – A three-year, joint operation targeting illicit drug sales across Sumner County has led to more than a dozen indictments and arrests.
In August 2023, investigators assigned to the Middle Tennessee Drug Related Death Task Force (TBI HIDTA), Metro Nashville Police Department, 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Agency, Smyrna Police Department, LaVergne Police Department, Hendersonville Police Department, Gallatin Police Department, Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, Sumner County Emergency Management Agency, and the Regional Organized Crime Information Center began investigating a drug trafficking organization responsible for the distribution of large quantities of controlled substances.
On April 1st, investigators conducted 14 residential search warrants involving places associated with top members of a drug trafficking organization. They confiscated 162 pounds of methamphetamine, 22 pounds of cocaine, eight pounds of fentanyl and a large sum of U.S. currency.
On June 2nd, investigators presented their case to the Sumner County Grand Jury which returned indictments charging 16 individuals.
