The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
City officials in Murfreesboro have been banned from enforcing a common sense ordinance protecting children while a lawsuit is heard in federal court.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw Jr. made the decision on Friday to temporarily block the city’s ordinance related to “community decency standards” during the upcoming BoroPride Festival, scheduled to take place this weekend.
Crenshaw’s order, stating that the city reached an agreement with TEPF to not enforce the ordinance on October 28th, will potentially expose children to more sexualized content during this year’s festival.
The city took action to update the standards in order to “assist in the determination of conduct, materials, and events that may be judged as obscene or harmful to minors” after video from last year’s festival was reviewed by City Manager Craig Tindall.
In an October 2022 letter to The Tennessee Equality Project Foundation (TEPF), responsible for organizing BoroPride since 2016, Tindall said that the festival being promoted as “family friendly” and the permit application stating that the event was for all ages was “misleading” and that the application contained “material misrepresentation.”
Tindall banned TEPF from further use of city property last year, saying that the portion of the event in question “contained conduct and speech of an explicitly sexual nature” and violated not only Murfreesboro City Code but also Tennessee law.
The letter prompted the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce to contact Murfreesboro City Mayor Shane McFarland. The chamber affirmed their support of TEPF and BoroPride, and called on Tindall to reverse his ban.
The group also spoke at the December Murfreesboro City Council meeting.
Earlier this month, the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee filed a lawsuit on behalf of TEPF alleging that the city’s ordinance violates First Amendment rights and discriminates against those identifying as LGBTQ.
TEPF denies that last year’s shows were inappropriate, stating that performers were fully clothed.

Serious question > Why do the LGBTQ people want to have Drag Queens represent their public image? I don’t understand that. I know LGBTQ people and none of them are Drag Queens.
You want to shove it in my face, don’t get mad when I shove back.
I still need clarification on if this is banned for the rest of Tennessee, which I thought it was.
And to say it violates their 1st Amendment rights, is straight up BULL!! The LGBT/Pride/Drag community NEVER had an issue UNTIL they got pushback from performing in front of kids! The ONLY reason they want to perform in front of kids is to GROOM them!
Yup, one of lucifer’s Obama’s appointments.
The whole “gay pride” movement is inarguably just a movement of pedophiles who want access to kids. They’ve taken the mask off by demanding children be at their sex shows. Not only present, but participating and being touched by the pedophiles.
That this is in any way allowed, much less tolerated, show how shockingly sick our society has become. Parents, and the community as a whole, not only do not protect their children from pedophiles, they DELIVER their children to pedophiles.
Clearly an Obama appointee wants minor children to pretend men are women and celebrate it in bizarre events called Drag Queen Shows.
Exactly
A judge’s job is to facilitate the enforcement of the law, not ban the laws he may disagree with because of personal inclinations.
WHY WOULD ANY PARENT THAT LOVES THEIR CHILD EXPOSE THEM TO SUCH GARBAGE…DRAG Q;S ARE NASTY COWARDS TO PICK ON CHILDREN…PEDOPHILES..PREDATOR FREAKS..PERVERT SICKO’S…
Why does Nashville have a FJBLGBXYZ chamber of commerce? Nashville is as bad as San Fran.
It’s coming close to the end my friends.
You’re exactly right.
