Youth Services detectives in Nashville arrested an illegal alien who is now charged with rape of a child.
19-year-old Raymundo Juan Reyes Cornelio was arrested on April 11 after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl when he was 18.
The investigation began after a 12-year-old girl gave birth to a child in February. The girl told authorities that she had a single sexual encounter in May 2024 when she was still 11 years old with a man she met on Facebook.
The girl provided information to police that led them to execute a search warrant on the man’s Facebook account, where they were able to determine the man’s name and phone number.
It was then discovered that Cornelio had been previously issued a citation for driving without a license after being stopped for a window tint violation on March 1. From that citation, investigators found his address in Davidson County.
When questioned by police, Cornelio admitted to having sex with the girl when he was 18 and claimed that he thought she was 14 at the time.
Cornelio was placed at the Downtown Detention Center with a $75,000 bond.
Davidson County inmate records now show that Cornelio has an ICE detainer hold. He will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An ICE detainer most likely means Cornelio is in the country illegally.
