The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested an illegal alien last month on three misdemeanor charges, including DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

39-year-old Rony Alexis Meza was arrested on November 23 and charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

He was booked into the Downtown Detention Center.

In a December 2 court appearance before Judge Allegra Walker, Meza was only convicted of a misdemeanor DUI.

He was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail, which was suspended to 48 hours served, 11 years and 29 days probation, and $1,210.50 in court costs.

While records show that his case is now closed, Meza is currently being held on an immigrant detainer, meaning he will remain in jail until he is turned over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This hold most likely indicates that Meza is in the country illegally.
