Law enforcement officials in Davidson County rounded up several illegal aliens charged with violent offenses while Knox County police caught several driving under the influence.

Davidson County police arrested 39-year-old Neptali Mejia-Benitez on Sunday, August 24. Benitez was charged with Child Neglect/Imminent Danger of a child 8 or under and public intoxication. He was taken into custody and booked on an $11,000 bond.

19-year-old Slayder Elias Cotzalo-Lopez was arrested on Monday, August 25. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal impersonation. He was booked into the Downtown Detention Center with a total bond of $25,500.

Additionally, 19-year-old Melby Aldana Hernandez was also arrested on August 25 on charges of aggravated assault/strangulation and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked on a $75,000 bond.

In Knox County, 27-year-old Santos Galicia Cruz was arrested on Sunday, August 24. He was charged with public intoxication.

34-year-old Saucedo Figueroa Aurelio was also arrested and charged with DUI (3rd offense).


Inmate records show that all of these individuals now have immigration detainer holds.
They will remain in custody until they are released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An ICE detainer most likely means these individuals are in this country illegally.
