A 48-year-old Tennessee Middle School Counselor was arrested last week on charges involving photos that depict child sexual abuse.

Rutherford County employee Daniel Gregory – who lives in Coffee County – had worked at Siegel Middle School since 2006 but resigned once he was made aware of the charges against him.

In partnership with the Office of the 14th Judicial District Attorney General, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) began investigating an account user in September who was sending photos of children in sexual poses and performing sex acts via a website on the internet.

TBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit identified Gregory as the user of the account. In addition to images of 11 children, Gregory also sent explicit images of himself and his wife.

With the assistance of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, TBI agents arrested Gregory and charged him with 11 counts of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

A spokesperson for the Rutherford County Schools district said that no students were connected to the sexual abuse materials. The pictures were sent from Gregory’s home in Coffee County, according to law enforcement.

In an email sent to Rutherford County parents, spokesperson James Evans wrote, “We know this information is concerning to parents and students, and we too are disturbed by the charges.” We are fully cooperating with law enforcement to assist the investigation.”

Gregory was taken into custody on October 9th and is being held in a Coffee County jail where he awaits a November court date. His bond is set at $950,000.
