A 36-year-old illegal alien from Mexico stands accused of shooting a man in front of his seven-year-old daughter in Antioch, Tennessee and has been federally charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with possession of ammunition by an illegal alien and unlawful reentry into the United States.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, the unsealed indictment reports Jose Guadalupe Vazquez-Delgado was “drinking heavily” in an Antioch house and engaged in an argument with the victim which spilled outside where Vazquez shot the victim several times before running away.

Reportedly, his seven-year-old daughter had followed the arguing men outside and was witness to the shooting. The victim was transported to the hospital and received life-saving emergency surgery. Vazquez left several items at the house including 14 shell casings, his truck, and his Mexican passport.

The press release confirms that immigration officials have previously deported Vazquez from the United States to Mexico, “on at least two prior occasions.”

Special Agent in Charge Joseph E. Carrico of the FBI Nashville Field Office commented, “Operations like this underscore the FBI’s commitment to working with our partners to keep dangerous people and weapons from infecting our communities. The FBI in Tennessee is committed to actively investigating and apprehending individuals wanted for federal violations and those unlawfully present in the United States and remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the Constitution.”

If convicted, Vasquez faces up to 17 years in federal prison, 15 for the firearms offense and potentially an additional two for the immigration violation.
