The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a warning regarding a violent gang of illegal aliens from Venezuela that has reappeared in the state.

TBI Director David Rausch began his talk at Tuesday’s budget meeting with the governor by stating, “I want to start off this morning with some concerning trends.”

Rausch then went on to explain that the Venezuelan gang known as “Tren de Aragua” has been observed in several of the state’s larger cities. The gang was started somewhere around 2012 in a Venezuelan prison and has since made its way into the U.S.

Officials say the gang is made up primarily of individuals who are known for criminal activity including human trafficking, extortion, and cold-blooded murder.

“They are very violent…they are here and they are in numbers here,” Rausch said.

Tennessee is not the only state dealing with an influx of Venezuelan gang members.

Earlier this year, President Biden’s administration offered a $12 million reward for the arrest of the gang’s leaders. Governor Greg Abbott of Texas referred to the group as a foreign terrorist organization and requested that the Department of Public Safety form a strike team of state troopers, Texas Rangers, and other law enforcement officials for the purpose of targeting gang members.

TBI officials say the gang had seemingly moved away two years ago but authorities have spotted members again recently.

“They are back in all of our major cities. They are running human trafficking operations. That’s where they start, but we have learned, talking with our peers throughout the country, that they have a pathway to more violence,” warned Rausch.

According to the TBI, the gang starts by kidnapping women from Venezuela and trafficking them into the United States. That leads to organized retail crimes, drug trafficking, and extreme violence.

“Recently, there was a video that they shot, where they shot a cartel member 31 times in broad daylight on video and posted it to social media,” said Rausch. “That’s the type of organization they are.”

  1. A bounty dead or alive should be offered for the capture or killing of foreign gang members. Indeed, I support the death penalty option for all illegal aliens found inside our country over age 12. Deport those who turn themselves in or execute those who are caught.
